  • The fact that this has been re-released makes me a very happy bunny.  Not many people realise this, but that album is my all time favourite. I've loved it ever since I bought it in 1994.  God, I can't believe it's that old.  It still sounds awesome to me.  And the re-release has the Chemical Brothers remix of Voodoo People, which I've been trying to get a decent copy of for AGES.  (Also, wtf, I have a Pendulum remix of Voodoo People?)
  • I went shopping today.  And bought stuff.  Nothing too exciting, just clothes and some CDs.  Humph.  I just can't get into buying loads of music online on iTunes and the like.  I just don't like not having a physical copy of the CD.  I know I could burn the stuff I buy to CD but, well, it's just not the same, is it?
  • I also bought some make up in Clinique (not MAC, bloody hell!).  I wanted some new foundation and I suck royally at getting the right one so I got one of the women there to help me.  She put some on for me as well and fucking hell, it looked amazing!  I have rosacea and I'm so used to my face being red because of it but the way she did it, it was toned right down.  I don't for one minute think that I'll do that every day but it's nice to know that what I now have can do what it does.
  • Things that annoy me: Bad grammar.  Yup, the their/they're/there and you/you're thing really drives me crazy. But the two that annoy me most - using "me and ___" instead of "___ and I", and using "of" instead of "have". It's should have, not should of. Would have, not would of. Could have, not... you get the picture.   And it also really annoys me when people say "it's only the Internet, what does it matter?".  Erm, it matters because it makes you sound like an uneducated idiot.  I don't like uneducated idiots. 
  • I'm completely obsessed with Hadouken! at the moment.  I bought some stuff by them on iTunes ages ago (one of the few things I've bought on there), but never listened to it until about 2 weeks ago.  WHY DID I NOT LISTEN TO THEM BEFORE?  Somehow, they're now my second artist on last.fm, after Muse.  I have NO clue how that happened.  Apart from that a lot of the music I listen to isn't scrobbled but, urgh, I'll shush now.  But yes, go listen to Hadouken, like, now. 
  • My car's sunroof is broken :( It won't close, which is a bit of a bugger if it, y'know, rains.  So I can't open it at the moment in case I flood my car or something.  Grr.  But teh Mini people are taking him away next week to have a look at it and, hopefully, fix it.  Which will probably cost me about a gamillion pounds or something. 
  • Weird celebrity crush of the moment = Heikki Kovalainen.  Well, that's if you can call him a celebrity. 
  • People drive me insane.  S'all I'm sayin'.
  • My iTunes is on random. It just played Sober by Muse and then straight after, Alcohol by CSS. Am I the only one amused by this*?

Today is Monday. Monday is the first day of a new week. This week I am going to make some changes.

I started by getting my hair dyed blonde. We're not talking a little bit blonde, here, I dipped my head in a bucket of bleach and waited until I started hallucinating. It was worth the third degree burns on my scalp, as I look sexy.

Then I threw out all of my clothes and went shopping, as I am really going to go for the tarty look here. I bought some booty shorts and tried on a push up bra but that knocked me out. I'll stick with the usual. I got some adidas tracksuit bottoms too, and I wear them tucked into my socks with some old scuffed up trainers. I am really going for it.

I threw away all my music and bought RnB Anthems 2006 which I currently have thumping out of my car and disturbing anyone with taste for miles around. My ears are actually bleeding, which I take to be a sign of success. Luckily it's all going on my massive gold hoop earrings.

I decided not to be my usual fabulous creative self with my eye makeup, and instead have adopted a new makeup application technique. Basically, I squeeze a huge glob of black liquid eyeliner into my palms, and then slap it onto my face. Most of it goes near my eyes.

I've quit my awesome job and have found employment behind the tills at Asda. I am on number 17. The woman on number 16 is my new best friend, her name is Sharon and she has thirteen kids, most of whom are called Sharon.

I can't even remember how to spell the name of that band anymore. Mice? Moose? News? I'm confused.

Rar. ( This ) is the photo that I have been scaring people with these past few days. God, my eyes look fucked.

Everyone keeps on asking me if it hurts. Well, they don't, they say "my god, that must hurt a lot!" And don't seem to believe me when I say that it doesn't hurt at all. They're a little bit itchy every now and then, and the muscles around my eyes ache a bit at the end of the day, but that's all.

I keep on being majorly amused by absolutely nothing. I just look at things and the fact I can see things absolutely fine makes me laugh. It's really quite sad in a way.

Not being able to touch my eyes is driving me insane though. Especially when they get itchy. It's so hard to not just scratch them without thinking.

AND! I get to wear plastic eye shield things at night which are SO attractive. Seriously, going around with two pieces of plastic taped to your face is going to be the next big fashion, you heard it here first!

  • Why did it take me so long to find teh bullet points button in semagic?

  • I made an iGoogle theme, as I am a sad cow.  Shock horror, it's Muse related.  Are we surprised?  It's simple as fuck becasue it's the first one I've ever done and it's xml and I know nothing about xml and I got confused but... I shall call it effective, not simple.  that's my excuse anyway.  But, I digress.  If you are as nosy as I am, it's here - if anyone has any ideas to make it betterer tell meeee!  Or if you want to use it, erm, go ahead.  You can't set it as your defaul at the moment, but Google may see fit to change that.  If they are mad. 

  • I'm going to see Foo Fighters this weekend and I'm oh so excited.  [info]hullabalo_o and I are going to kidnap Dave Grohl, so if there is a piece on the news about the lead singer of a world famous rock band going missing, you know nothing, ok?

  • Next Monday I become a Fellow.  This does not mean that I start wearing a pinstripe suit and a bowler hat and say "what ho, old chap" to people or anything.  It's better than that!  It means I am finally all super duper qualified and can put different letters after my name.  Unfortunately not more letters, just different ones. 

  • I'm old soon.  Old, old, old.  And I plan to get drunk to mark this occassion.  People keep asking me what I want; there's nothing I want as such, and as cliche as it sounds, all I want is something with some thought behind it.  I think that this is a sign of getting old. 

  • I'm turning into a maths geek.  About 9 years too late.

  • Amusing question I just read - "so my boyfriend want to have anal sex, but i've never had anal sex. i'm afraid it won't feel as good as he says it does. any input?".  Is it bad that made me snicker more than Muttley on speed?  (the "any input" bit, not anal sex in general...)

  • I got my my brother's tickets for the British Grand Prix this weekend - and he's taking me with him, yey!  I am sooo stupidly excited about this, I can't wait to hear the sound of those cars up close.  I'd die to go to the Italian Grand Prix as well; Monza and Monaco are the two others apart from the British that I would love to go to.

  • I've come to love the semicolon; I think that it's a greatly underestimated punctuation mark.

  • I saw the Sex and the City film the other day - I won't give away the plot, but it was good, although predictable (I saw the last 10 minutes or so coming a mile off)

  • I found a very rude looking carrot yesterday.  Correction - my mother found a very rude carrot yesterday.  To quote Baldrick, it was shaped exactly like a thingy!  Mum was in the middle of peeling said carrots and refused to cut into this one, and it's now sat on my kitchen unit.

I've just been going through my itunes to make a playlist for my 6 hours of driving tomorrow, and I found loads of songs that I have absolutely no knowledge of. As in, I don't know the artist, I don't konw the title, on listening I can't remember the song. Where the hell did they all come from?

Oh, also: Ben bought me the worlds most bizarre cheese ever.  It is (wait for it)( ... )

I made rock buns today as well.  I love saying I made rock buns, it makes me feel all domesticated.  What I don't let on to most is that my mum actually made the mix and gave it to me, told me to put egg and milk in it and bake it.  But I did the actual baking bit so it counts, mmmk?

I got fun shopping too.  Although it's not really that fun, save for the fact that after a year, I finally got round to getting myself a printer!  And not any old printer, it's a super duper scanner/copier thing as well, and the best thing is it's wireless.  Seeing as I have a wireless network this is a good thing :D  I always use a laptop so don't have any particular place for my computer, so having a normal printer would be odd as I;d have to take my laptop over to it to connect whenever I wanted to print anything.  So, whoever dreamt up wireless printers is a god. 

I also got a box set of Black Books today.  I've never seen it but have been told numerous times that it's fantastic.  I have so much stuff on dvd I have to get round to watching though, I don't know whether to watch Black Books or Skins first.  Got about 10 films to get though too, should keep me occupied for the rest of the Easter break. 

I need to go get food.  All this food talk is making me hungry.

Guh, I've been sat here ages trying to think of what to say but I can't think of anything. It's been bloody ages since I updated my LJ and loads has happened but I can't sodding remember it all now that I'm sat here updating.

Erm...my dad's cancer has gone! He had a scan recently and the results said that it's all cleared away, he still has one more session of chemotherapy to go through though.

And I've FINALLY got my GP to refer me to a dermotologist. Only took them 18 fucking months. I've got an appointment already though, it's on Wednesday, I'm kind of apprehensive but also looking forward to maybe finally finding out what's up with it. Although I guess part of me has kind of given up on medical people because they're all so bloody useless so I'm not really getting my hopes up too much.

I wanna go out and get drunk. I don't want to wait til Friday :|

God, I really am spammy today.  My LJ entries are like buses, none for ages then 3 turn up at once. 

I remembered other stuff I was going to say but forgot to put in that other entry and then... it didn't seem right putting them in that entry.  Random things again.

1. My bosses band played on Friday and I went along to watch them and got a little drunk.  I went along with someone I used to work with, Suzy (who I think knows [info]jessica_phoenix...) - I haven't seen Suzy for a while so it was good to see her again.  The bosses band played the usual stuff (they do covers), but they played a new one for them, Chelsea Dagger, which was awesome.

2. I had a dream in which Kylie Minogue's new song was a cover of a Foo Fighter's song.  The Kylie song was still the same song (2 Hearts), but in my dream it was originally done by the Foo's  Yes, a Foo version of 2 Hearts. It was quite...odd.

3. WHY WHY WHY do people pay for that text service that tells you if you're compatible with someone if you text your name and the other person's name?  Although on one level, it does make me think, if you're stupid enough to pay £9 a week for the service you must be stupid enough to believe that it's a valid reason for choosing who to go out with.  Wankers.

4. WHY do people fancy Vernon Kay?

5. How on earth is "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116" pronounced "Albin"?

6. Is this the best website ever?  (Only people who have seen the IT Crowd will understand this one)  OK, maybe not the best ever, but it amused me. 

7. Something else that has amused me greatly - I was looking on the Eddie Izzard site yesterday and I found that there's an Eddie Izzard voice for sat nav!  So I now have Eddie getting me lost instead of some lame woman who I want to spork.

Wheee, update time I guess!

It's amazing how much this song makes me happy - just listening to it puts a massive smile on my face like no other.

I'm afraid I've been doing that thinking thing again. Thinking about why people (i.e., me) do things, and why they don't do things. I can't speak for everyone else (as, obviously, I'm not everyone else. That could get messy), but for me I think the reason I don't do things eventually comes down to fear. Fear of what depends on what it is, but in the end it's all the same.

It's odd the things I'm fearful of though. The usual things to be scared of I'm not (unless you count spiders, they're just WRONG). For example; when I come home there are 2 buses I can catch - one stops at the end of my road, the other stop's about 10 minutes walk away, and that walk is across the rugby pitches over the road from me. I was talking to some bloke at the bus stop the other day, and it turns out he lives in my road, but he won't get the bus that means walking over the rugby pitches as he doesn't like walking across them in the dark (there is absolutely NO lighting at all). Personally, I never even give that a second thought. When I get home from work it's pitch black dark but it doesn't worry me at all. Never has.

Most of the time when I go out at night I won't think twice about walking home on my own in the dark either. Unless I'm wearing heels, but that's different.

It used to scare me, freak me out, but now, I don't give it a second thought unless someone else brings it up. I know some people may think I'm an idiot/stupid/whatever for doing that but it really just doesn't figure with me anymore. I wouldn't let any one else do it though!

Going onto what I AM fearful of (except those damn spiders), that more or less boils down to three things - knives, rejection, and being wrong. Knives - I think that comes from seeing someone nearly (accidentally) stab themselves when I was about 6 or 7. I can still remember watching it happen *shudders*

Rejection and being wrong - in some ways I suppose those two are related. Might people reject you if you're wrong? Might being rejected be seen as being wrong about how you perceive a situation? I suppose they are linked in a way.

I think those are the two fears I need to control most - if I can do that then ultimately I think I would be able to get on with things a lot better. How to do it is the question though.

It's really quite worrying just how much I want a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. I spend way too much time lusting after them.

I've got the house to myself for a few days after tonight - it's really strange, I don't like being on my own in my house long term but I really look forward to having a few days to myself, when I can just do what I want for a while without having to think of anyone else and what they're doing.

ONE THING I'LL BE DOING! Trying to finish TR: Anniversary. Which I haven't played in ages. I doubt very much that I'll finish it, I have to much of it to do and too many other things to do this weekend.

I spent most of last weekend watching DVDs - Life on Mars and Bones. I'm completely in love with both and am now in love with both David Boreanaz and John Simm.

(fucks sake, there's a Spice Girls ad on tv - can't they go away again, please?)

I have a card saying I have a special delivery parcel I have to pick up - I have absolutely no idea what it is though, quite intriguing, hrm?

I got a letter at work today today from particularly twatty insurance company - no names mentioned - that was sent 2 months ago. It doesn't normally take post 2 months to get to me, but thee was a particularly good reason why this letter took so long. Because these particular insurers are SO twatty they, y'know, forgot to put an address on the letter. I'm surprised it reached me at all. So yes, they got a letter back that was dripping in sarcasm, although it'll be completely lost on them I'm sure.

God, I'm rambling on about crap again. Go me. I'm going to go and watch Heroes.

Last week I went out and I saw some people that I haven't seen in about 6 years (Kathryn, Sarah, if you read this I'm not talking about you!). It was a group of about 6 of them and they really haven't changed in all that time. It made me wonder whether that's a good thing or a bad thing?

In one way it could be seen as good - if they're still leading exactly the same life there must be something in it that makes them not want to change it so it must be good, no?

Or could it just be that it becomes routine - "it's Saturday night and so we'll be doing x" - and that makes it hard to break out of it? But saying that, if you didn't want to be in the routine wouldn't you do something to escape from it?

The part of me that wonders whether it's a bad thing is, isn't one of the good things about life the progression of it, the changes that come about and the different things you experience because of that? If you always do the same thing and don't have new experiences, is that a bad thing?

It also makes me wonder - in 6 years time, how is my life going to be different? Comparing it now to how it was 6 years ago it's completely different. I'm a different person. Is the change in another 6 years time going to be as drastic? At the moment I'd say no - I'm pretty content with things as they are at the moment. But then again I thought I was 6 years ago and it was only when things changed that I realised just how much I disliked my life back then.

Anyway, enough of the philosophising. Not that there's much philosophy to all that crap.

God, I haven't updating this thing properly for ages have I? I'm so neglectful.

I need new books to read. Anyone have any recommendations?

Things I am wondering

1. Why on earth do people in Formula 1 say "for sure" so much?  It's a phrase I hardly ever hear outside of F1, but within it you can almost guarantee any driver interviewed will say it at least once O.o  And it seems to rub off on to everyone else within the sport as well.

2. How can one of my best friends not like Sex and the City?  I don't care if Carrie Bradshaw looks like a foot, she's still a damn well dressed foot.  I forgot how much I love that program and [info]truthunwinding talking about it inspired me to watch it again.  Can't wait for the film.  Although watching the tv series again I'm a bit disappointed that all the episodes are only 30 minutes long.  I remember them being longer.

3. Can England actually, maybe, possibly, win the world cup again?  Probably the answer to this one is a big fat emphatic "no", but I can dream can't I?

4. Has anyone who says that "Secret Diary of a Call Girl" is porn actually seen porn?  And again, another show that should have longer episodes please. 

5. Where can I get shiny, black, faceted, teardrop shaped beads, about an inch long, by the end of this week?

6. Does anyone artistic want to make me a wallpaper for my computer?  I am the awkward and I have a 1280x800 px screen and I can never find nice ones that actually fit it :(  And I lack the ability to make ones I like myself because me + Photoshop = not good. 

7. Why do people find it so hard to comprehend that as you get older you inevitably get more aches and pains?

8. Why the hell do people agree to go on Street Doctor and have their urine tested in shop windows?
