About Abbi
Uh, so...this is about me I suppose. I should start out by saying that I'm not the greatest writer in the world, so this may well turn out a little, er, lame.
OK, me, what can I say? If I was feeling uber cocky and stuff I would say that I'm simply super fantastic and wonderful in every way. But that wouldn't be true, because I'm a human being.
I was born in 1977 (GREAT YEAR!) in a place called Keighley in West Yorkshire in the UK. My dad is from there, and his parents still live there. It's a beautiful place because it's in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales, so hills YAY! It's also pretty near a place called Haworth, which is famous for being the home of the Brontė sisters.
I have one brother, Ben, who is 4 years older than me. Everyone thinks we're weird because I really get on well with Ben. My mum says the only argument she can remember us having is about who owned a particular pair of socks O.o (they were mine, if you were wondering. Actually, I don't know that, I just made it up).
When I was about 2, our family moved to Chester, but I can remember sod all about that so I won't say anything. All I can remember about Chester is my brother playing cricket with someone in our back garden and me getting in the way - I ended up with a cricket ball shaped indentation on my nose O.o
At about 4, our family moved to Dudley in the West Midlands, near Birmingham. I made some good friends there, a couple of sisters called Stephanie and Vicky, and a girl called Rachel (Who was the great great ( I think it's only two greats) granddaughter of JRR Tolkien. I tell this to LotR fans and they're all "ooooh, what were the family like", but unfortunately all I can remember is Colin (Rachel's brother) telling me off for biting his Lego.)
When I was 11, our family moved again, to Bristol this time, which is where my mums family is from. I still live here now, and I am completely in love with the place. I've made some good friends here, the best of which is Sue, who I met at secondary school.
In... *thinks* 1991 I watched the Rugby World Cup, which was held in the UK that year, and became hopelessly addicted to rugby. Everyone at school thought it was weird for a girl to like rugby O.o. I support Bath, despite being a Bristolian. People ask why, and the reason is quite simple - my dad worked in Bath at the time, and knew people that went to see them. So, when I asked him to take me to see a match, it was easier to go and watch Bath. And I've supported them ever since.
I moved away from Bristol for a year for uni, but I only went to Bath University so I lived at home after my freshman year there - so no student debts, thank god. I think Bath is the only place I would want to move away from Bristol for. I did the geekiest degree you can imagine (Mathematical Sciences), and sometimes I wish I'd done something different. But hey, at the end of the day, I have a degree in a subject that makes people stop in their tracks when I tell them about it ^_^
While I was at uni, I worked part time in a local pub and continued to work there once I finished my degree. However, to be blunt, I got fed up of it, so with a bit of gentle nudging from my parents, I started to do a course to qualify as a Legal Executive. After I finished the first part of the course, I got a job working for a firm of solicitors doing personal injury law. I absolutely adore my job, and at the moment I can't imagine doing anything else. I qualified as a Legal Executive in June 2006 and am now a member and in two years time I'll be a fellow. Which is kinda yey if you know what it's all about. It also means I get more letters after my name - I am now Abbi Stell BSc (Hons) M.Inst.L.Ex. It soudns a bit wanky really though, doesn't it?
So, that's my personal life more or less covered - how about the online part of it?
Abbi online
I started coming online in about *thinks again* 2002. The thing that got me online was my love for a game called The Sims. I started off going on some sites that had downloads for custom content, and found my way to a few forums that were on ezboard. From there, I got into dolling, and one day decided to make a dolls site, which was originally on lovely (note sarcasm) Geocities. I learnt html mostly from the fantastic Lissa Explains site.
After having a site on Geocities for a while, I decided I wanted my own proper domain, so I bought VampiresGoddess.com (which has now passed on. The funeral was lovely) (my online name at the time was vampiresgoddess - it still is on ezboard). I soon learnt that having domains could be an addictive thing, and I bought Velvet Stars not long after. Mainly because I wanted a .co.uk domain O.o That domain is mainly used by my mum now.
I then got my third domain, which is this one, toxic-neurosis.net. The name came from looking through the sleeve notes of Absolution by Muse, who are one of my favourie bands. I thought up toxic-neurosis and toxic-anxiety, but settled on toxic-neurosis for some reason.
I got into fanlistings not long after that, and originaly had them all on vampiresgoddess.com. However, I then decided to use toxic-neurosis for my fanlistings, so moved them all here. My first fanlisting was for Kenya by Weebl's Stuff. As I got a few more fanlistings, I decided to make a collective for them, which is here. All of my fanlistings are now kept there, except for ones that are to do with Muse, for which I ended up buying another domain, Screenager. I also own Beautiful Contradiction.Org and Citizen Erased.Org although I have done sod all with the latter. I just love the name.
OK, I think that about covers it all. If for some reason, you want to know more, ask!
